Regular reader Nik Whale recently sent us this awesome picture of his birthday cake along with the following note.

I’m always seeing myself as a miniscule speck of useless dust in this life and just live everyday as it comes. I don’t follow any sports nor do I religiously watch soaps, I’m a loner, have been all my life.

One thing I am passionate about is Retro Gamer and retro games. Not only because of the groundbreaking software realeases at the time but because all the games invoke certain memories from my childhood, and I appreciate that because I have a goldfish memory, and can’t ever remember my six kid’s birth dates.

Because of this love for your mag I have EVERY single issue to date and never will I part with my collection.

I’m so shy and was dissapointed that I didn’t have the courage to go talk to anyone I recognised at last year’s replay, as you all feel like royalty and I dont have anything to offer you in stimulating conversation, other than jason kelk who I grew balls for and congratulated him on his RG disks game type-in on the C64, but everytime I saw the almighty llama king Jeff Minter himself I nearly wet myself, I get so star struck! I really loved taking my nine-year old son with me and he really loved it, hoping that it would instill good retro memories for the future for him, it did for me.

Anyway to lift the mood I recently turned 33 and my beautiful fiance Leeann designed me a special birthday cake themed around what comes first in my life, you guys. Not a day goes by that I don’t pick up the mag and read a little of RG whilst on my throne (which is my hiding spot when the kids are getting too much) and bask in the ambience of retro memories. Thanks so much for giving me a reason to live
