Resident Evil Revelations HD Announced

Capcom has just revealed that a tweaked version of Resident Evil Revelations will appear later this year.

First released for the 3DS, Revelations features multiple stories strands and introduces a string of new characters. It’s also responsible for the rather excellent Raid Mode, a spin-off score-based game that we actually enjoyed more than the main game (but not as much as Resident Evil Mercenaries).

This HD update promises enhanced lighting effects, and brand new enemy, a new difficulty mode and numerous enhancements to Raid Mode. It will also allow for co-op online play and the ability to play as classic characters such as Hunk.

Our only concern at the moment is the price, which has currently been announced at $49.99, which feels like far too much money for a digital download, even with numerous enhancements. While Revelations was enjoyable on the 3DS it felt a little budget in its scope, and we’re concerned this will be exaggerated on a bigger screen.

Still, Capcom is at least making an effort to get it to a larger audience and the core adventure still features plenty of cool moments that we’d love to revisit.

Resident Evil Revelations will be released on PS3 and PC on 25 May. Wii U and Xbox 360 versions will appear at an undisclosed date.
